Can We Have a Suggestion, Please? In less than one week - on Tuesday, July 5 at 6:30 pm - is our Summer Town Hall!
This week in the Training Center, there is a big ol' box to collect any questions/topics you wish to be answered or addressed at the Town Hall. Take a minute before classes or rehearsals to write down topics that should be addressed! Note: Questions/Topics should be relevant to the broader DCH community (not one-off questions you have that are very specific to just you or a small group). To get those creative question juices flowing, below are topics currenty on the agenda:
If you won't be around the Training Center before Tuesday, you can also submit questions/topics online using this form. See you at the Town Hall!

Sorry this What's Up Wednesday is coming so late in the afternoon. Did you know we have improv summer camp for kids this week? It's a pretty fun time (see above). Also I need a nap. TUESDAYS!This What's Up Wednesday is all about upcoming Tuesdays. (Except for this quick reminder that tonight is the deadline to register for classes)
RESCHEDULING TOWN HALL: The DCH Town Hall was originally scheduled for this upcoming Tuesday (6/28). But! We realized that we have a pretty big change coming to our theater with the hiring of the first and new DCH Theater Director. Interviews with finalists are happening this week, and we want the new hire to be involved in the Town Hall. So - we are moving Town Hall to Tuesday, July 5, 6:30-8:00 pm ROOM RENTALS: Even though Town Hall isn't happening on 6/28, Room Rentals are! Room Rentals are $50 for the month, or $10/hour. Payment must be cash. Either Maggie or Amanda will be in the theater at 8 pm. JULY WORKSHOP: Timmy Mayse (DICE, Shameless, iO) is teaching a workshop on Tuesday, July 19 called "FINDING IT!" This workshop is geared toward helping you find what the scene is about in roughly the first three lines of dialogue. Focusing on reading not only your scene partners' line of dialogue, but how they said it. Attacking not only the scene, but the emotion that surrounds it. Finding the layers in a scene that are not only lines of dialogue but body posture, emotion and the true weight of the scene. We can find this together.Click here to register. Tap That. Town Hall That. Survey That.So many "thats" happening at DCH this summer. Here's more details so you can plan for "that"
Term 3 Survey: If you are enrolled in Term 3A classes, you should have received an e-mail today (at noon) from [email protected] with the link to the Term 3 survey. Please take a moment to fill that bad-boy out before your class showcase. If you didn't get the e-mail, or there are errors on the survey, please e-mail Maggie. DCH Town Hall: The last Tuesday in June, June 28th, we have our Summer DCH Town Hall. These happen twice a year - once in the winter and once in the summer. Amanda will share any priorities and initiatives for DCH in the next 6 months. You can ask questions and get clarity on things you want to know more about. It's pretty much the best time ever. Mark your calendars and save the date: June 28, 6:00pm Tap That: After an enormously successful hip hop dance class this past winter, Amanda is back with a new dance offering... and this time it's louder and fancier. If you've ever wanted to learn how to tap - or just want to try something new and get a bit of workout into your week - you can sign up for Amanda's Tap Class, starting in July. Learn more on the workshops page. We would love to continue to offer specialty classes like this over the course of the year. If you have a special skill and would like to teach, or an area that you are SUPER interested in learning more about, help us think of new options by filling out this survey. Internships, Auditions, and a NSFW videoWe've got a pretty big weekend coming up!
This Saturday, the next round of Ewing auditions kick off at 12:30. Not sure what a Ewing is? Every Thursday at 9:30, Ewing teams perform in the Tharp Theater. Players are eligible to audition once they are enrolled in level 3 and beyond (graduates always welcome!) It's a great way to get more stage time (guaranteed EIGHT shows!), to meet and perform with new people, and get extra practice in with a coach. For more information on the upcoming audition (how to prepare, what to expect, etc.) check out the Auditions page. Then, the VERY NEXT DAY (Sunday), intern applications for Term 4A are due at 11:59pm. Interning is also a great way to meet new people, become more involved in the DCH community, and, oh yeah, get your class paid for. If you are interested, learn more on the Internships page. And, while you're hanging around with down time, check out the newest video created by our very first Sketch for Screen Level 1 class. They wrote, produced, and starred in this super fun video about drug lords. (Note: probably not safe for work with the volume up unless you, also, work for a drug lord who doesn't mind expletives blaring from phones/computers.) |
