Performing at Dallas Comedy House
If you have specific questions about performing or DCH programming, please contact Ashley Bright ([email protected]).
There are two stages at Dallas Comedy House. Defining these stages helps make the expectations clear to the audience and performers.
Main StageThe Main Stage is located in DCH's largest theater, which seats over 100 people. This stage is home to polished, high-caliber comedy. While submissions to this stage are accepted, most of the shows on this stage are produced and curated by the Dallas Comedy House.
|
Side StageThe Side Stage is located in DCH's smaller theater, which seats over 50 people. This stage is a supportive environment for students and newcomers learning their craft, as well as a place for seasoned comedians to experiment with the bounds of comedy. Most of the shows on this stage are submitted.

Ways to Get On Stage
There are several ways to perform at Dallas Comedy House.
- Student Showcase: Every class at DCH culminates with a showcase after the last class. The showcase has low-priced tickets on sale to the public, which students can share with their friends and family.
- Open Mic: For stand-up comedians, an open mic is a great way to get written material in front of an audience and to get some stage chops. Open mics are free for the audience to attend. Learn more about DCH Open Mics.
- Improv Jam: Just like stand-up comedians, improv comedians need to get practice on stage. The jam is a great way to get used to the stage, while also getting to play with other improvisers of all experience levels. Jams are free for the audience to attend. Learn more about DCH Jams.
- Get Booked/Get Cast: Some shows are booked through a talent agent. Some shows consist of experienced comedians who are booked onto a line-up. Some shows have casts that are selected by the show runner. The best way to be selected for these types of shows is to be seen often or to attend auditions.
- Auditions: Auditions are held often at Dallas Comedy House for DCH-produced shows. Audition schedules for DCH-produced shows are posted here at dchbackstage.com. Individual show runners and directors may also hold auditions for their shows.
- Submitting a Show: DCH has a two-month show schedule. Submissions are due the 10th of the month prior to the show term (for example: Submissions for Sept/Oct 2019 will be due on August 10th by 11:59pm). Submissions are welcome for all shows, improv troupes, and sketch groups. Individual performers are encouraged to contact [email protected] for information on upcoming shows and booking.
