DCH Town Hall
You may have read a few articles online about what is going on with DCH and the new building owner. You also may have questions about the whole situation. Tomorrow at 6:30 in the theater, Amanda and one of her attorneys will be hosting a DCH town hall for performers and students to fill you in and answer any questions you may have. All are welcome to attend. Minutes will be posted on Friday from the meeting for those who cannot attend.
What Can You Do Right Now?
Amanda compiled this list of actions. Please read and see where you can plug in!
1. First and foremost, keep supporting DCH. I know you already all do, but that keeps us going and keeps the positive energy we love so much.
2. I know a lot of you are upset by what's happening. You're not alone. While it's tempting to comment negatively and say unfavorable things about my new landlord and their business and their products/services, that's not the intention. I'm asking you to take the high road. It's not fair to say things about products or places we've never experienced, and we wouldn't want them to do that to us. I know that's hard to process, but I'm asking you to take this into consideration. I understand your feelings, but doing so has the possibility of making the desired end result more difficult to accomplish. Instead, keep trying to circulate the fantastic already-published stories and Ticket segment, as well as any stories that come in the future.
3. Many of you have reached out about a fund for legal fees to which you could donate. I'm blown away by your offers, and I'll be candid when I say, we're probably going to need them. Before everyone tries to start their own, give us another day or so then we can discuss next steps.
4. For anyone who wants to talk or ask questions, you can come to a town hall this Thursday at 6:30p at the theater. We'll give you an update on the progress of the situation, as well as more actionable items.
5. There's a change.org petition making it's way around. This is another actionable item you can do now!
6. Additional thing (this is from Maggie): There's a facebook profile frame made by Rich Graham you can use to update your profile pic and show solidarity. Over 300 people have changed their profile already. All the feels. Click here.
New Menu, Free Tasting!
We are rolling out a totally new, totally tasty menu at DCH! Tonight, any student/performer ID will get you a free menu item to test it out and give us feedback. Come and eat up!

Must be enrolled/completed Sketch Level 2 and submit a writing packet to David Allison (email@example.com) by end of day on 4/15 to be considered. The audition will take place on Saturday, 4/21 at noon in the theater.
Pipeline Takes the Month Off!
There will be no Pipeline this month. Check back in May for all the bits and giggles.

This Thursday at 8 we introduce a new show, "Characters" that feature DCH performers' character monologues. It's going to be a rip-roaring good time! And, join us this Saturday for the Family Friendly "Second Saturday Show." This month, we will host a behind the scenes tour of DCH. Doors open at 5 and the show/tour are for all ages!

CONTEST ALERT! We're all excited for #2018DCF (can't you tell?) and are hosting a promo contest to help spread the good work. Make a public promo for a DCF show you're excited to see or perform in, hashtag it with #2018DCF and tag The Dallas Comedy Festival (@dallascomfest), and get a chance to name an April drink special after you or your group, plus a $30 bar tab (that's a lot of queso). We'll be selecting promo winners the week after the festival and announcing on April 4th's What's Up Wednesday. Promos can be videos, posters, GIFs... get creative!
Training Center Closed During the Dallas Comedy Festival
Monday, March 26-Sunday, April 1, the Training Center will be closed. This means no classes will meet, and no rehearsals will take place. Monday night, volunteers will be cleaning classrooms and setting up the front area of the Training Center to act as the festival Hospitality Suite. Tuesday-Saturday, the space will be used as a gathering hub for festival pass holders and performers. Sunday is a day of rest for everyone who went hard during the festival (it's also Easter for those who celebrate). Enjoy DCH's spring break and come join us for shows and workshops at#2018DCF!
Ewing Auditions on Saturday, March 24 at 12 PM
If you are enrolled in Improv Level 3+/graduate of the DCH Training Center, you can (and totally should!) audition for the Ewing! Those selected for a team will get eight straight weeks of shows on Thursday at 9:30, the opportunity to play with a new group of performers, and the guidance of a fantastic coach. Plus, the audition experience is an important milestone for all performers. Shake off the nerves and challenge yourself to audition! More info can be found here.
Free Class is NEXT Wednesday (NOT the Last Wednesday)
Due to the Dallas Comedy Festival, the Free Improv Class will be this coming Wednesday (3/21) and NOT the last Wednesday of the month. Class is from 7-8 in the Theater. Tell your friends!
Looking for Volunteers for the Deep Ellum Arts Festival
The weekend after #2018DCF (April 7-8) is the Deep Ellum Arts Festival, and we are looking for volunteers to help staff our arts fest table and events. If you're interested, please fill out this DEAF Volunteer Form.
Tipping on Wednesday
A friendly reminder that as a Stu/Per, you get happy hour drink specials and half-off food all night long every Wednesday! Also a friendly reminder to please tip your bar/waitstaff based on what the food/drink would be prior to the discount. They're working hard, y'all.
New Month, New Bar Specials
Beth's got new specials every month. This month is dedicated to lots of Dallas Comedy Festival inspired food and drink. Chug chug nom nom ♥
Workshops and shows for the 2018 Dallas Comedy Festival are filling up! Remember to get your tickets and start planning your week for March 27-31. There are SO many out of town and local acts you won't want to miss. Here are some friendly reminders so you don't accidentally miss out:
Interested in being on a Ewing, meeting new people, getting better at improv, having a regular timeslot to get a ton of stage time? YOU SHOULD AUDITION FOR THE EWING! If you are enrolled in level 3+ or a graduate of the improv program, we'll see you at the next audition: Saturday, 3/24 at noon.
Take a Seat
If you stumble (read: walk) into a theater during a show, please take a seat and enjoy (read: don't crowd around the door). If there aren't any seats, it means the show is soldout and you're going to have to catch it the next time around or ask the performers for a play-by-play in the bar after the show. Along these same lines, please do not use the doors to the theaters that are off the performer hallway to enter/exit shows. We are trying to keep all traffic going in to the theaters from the main hallway. Thank you for helping us smooth this process out. Interns, bar staff, and the whole-wide-world thanks you!
LAST WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH TUITION SALE/FREE IMPROV CLASS!
Sign-up for your next class today and save 10% (automatically applied at check-out). Tomorrow, Maggie will begin sending out welcome emails for classes starting next week and/or rescheduling classes that did not make. And, if you know someone who you think you like to try their hand at this little improv thang, send 'em over to the free improv class tonight from 7-8. in the theater!
FESTIVAL SHOW TICKETS & WORKSHOP ON SALE AT MIDNIGHT!
Individual show tickets AND workshops are all on sale once the clock strikes midnight. Peruse the full listing of shows and workshop on the Dallas Comedy Festival website. A reminder: DCH student and performer IDs are not eligible for free show admission during the festival.
Beth is making up some delicious new specials every month and March will be no different. Swing by the bar this week end to drink up the last bit of February specials before they're gone. (PS: My favorite bar special - JELL-O shots - will be hitting the bar at the end of the month for DCF. YESSSSS!)
EWING EWING EWING
The newest Ewing teams - Daffodil and Dandelion - kick off their Ewing run this week. Show 'em your support at 9:30 on Thursdays. Interested in being on a Ewing yourself? The next audition is on 3/24 at noon.
SPECIAL SHOWS THIS SATURDAY
The 8:00 show on Saturday is a bittersweet, special show for two beloved DCH troupes. CLR will be saying "farewell" in their last show (besides their DCF appearance) by bringing together cast members from years past and present for their performance. And, in the same timeslot, The Monthly Junk has their last show before Sarah Adams gives birth to a human being.
ICED COFFEE & COLD BREW AT THE BAR!
Two weeks ago, our staff did a tasting and sampled a bunch of different iced coffee & cold brew coffee options. Now, they're in stock and ready for your consumption. Follow Raye Maddox's lead from the video above and get yourself a bottle. Listen for that pop, y'all!
ROOM RENTALS ARE ON TUESDAY!
Reserve yourself a room in the Training Center for your rehearsing needs! David will be in the Training Center from 8:00-8:30 to collect rent. $50 for the month of March, $20 for a one-night gig. It's first come first-get. NOTE: The Training Center will be closed for room rentals and classes from March 26-March 31 for the Dallas Comedy Festival.
FESTIVAL SHOW TICKETS GO ON SALE NEXT THURSDAY!
At midnight on March 1, individual show tickets will go on sale for the 2018 Dallas Comedy Festival (#2018DCF). We will also be posting workshops next week, which will ALSO go on sale at midnight on March 1! Get excited. Set your alarms. Shows will sell out.
HELP US WELCOME NEWBIES!
You've probably noticed the bar and shows have been pretty busy the last two months. That's great! More people interested in comedy and supporting local acts! As someone who knows a lot about this place, if you see confused customers who might be here for the first time, we'd love your help guiding them to their show (or the bathrooms... or the bar... or just not down the performer hallway). Help us make them feel welcome in our (comedy) house!
Happy Valentine's Day! For a present, I got you a bunch of announcements:
Some Housekeeping (Literally)
From classrooms, to the training center lounge, to greenrooms - we've got a lot of shared spaces at DCH that get a ton of traffic throughout the week. Please help us keep these spaces inviting and tidy by making sure furniture is put back where you found it (including couches in the Training Center) and trash makes it into trash cans (especially food items).
Fest Badges are on Sale
If you know you're going to be living it up at the 2018 Dallas Comedy Festival (i.e. attending more than one night of shows), you might want to get yourself a Fest Badge. It guarantees you admission into shows (including headliners Sasheer Zamata and 3Peat), as well as drink tickets, swag, and priority seating. Qe have a limited number of badges we can sell, and we're already halfway sold-out of them! Learn more and purchase a badge here. NOTE: DCH Student and Performer badges do not get into shows for free during the festival. There are also no comps during the festival for performers.
Make DCH a Great Place
If you've ever thought, "wow. I like being up at DCH. It's a fun place to be," you're right! Help us make it fun for everyone by being a DCH Night Intern! Night interns are the first impression of DCH for ticket holders and a crucial part of what makes DCH so special. You see them all the time in their sweet black DCH shirts, taking tickets and expertly disposing of trash in the dumpster. You probably look up to them, and now you can BE ONE! Applications for Term 2 are due this Thursday. Click here to learn more and apply.
Email Photos to Ashley Bright
If you've got cool pics of DCH shows and/or shenanigans, e-mail them to Ashley Bright (Ashley@dallascomedyhouse.com) to be shared with the world via the DCH social medias.
Sketch Dash has a New Fearless Leader
Sketch Dash is officially produced by Madison Frihart now. Thank you, Jason Hensel, for starting this really neat show and getting it off the ground. Learn more about Sketch Dash (and other performance opportunities) by clicking here.
Beth at the Bar with Some Super Specials
We got iced coffee now! We got Yoohoo! We got so many tasty drink specials up at the DCH bar that you've gotta try! Cozy on up to the bar tonight and enjoy StuPer* discounts with your ID (like half off all food and happy hour drink prices all night long).
*GENIUS Student/Performer shorthand that WILL catch on.
