Student & Performer TipsFall is upon us! Halloween programming has typically been a busy time at DCH with sold out shows and lots of people who have never been to the theater before. With all the excitement, you might be thinking, "that's spooky!" but, have no fear - with these friendly reminders, you'll be able to navigate DCH like a pro.
Getting in to Shows with Student/Performer IDs As a student and performer, you have the opportunity to see SO many shows for free! Keep in mind, however, that seats are given to paying customers first and you are not guaranteed a seat at a show if it is sold out. A new practice for interns is to start taking IDs at the Box Office if a show has sold more than 50% capacity. Once the show starts, names of students/performers who have turned in their ID will be called in the order in which they were received to claim available seats. This ensures we don't: 1) Have to ask you to move once you've already been seated, 2) Can fill in any empty seats in the theater, 3) Have a uniform and fair process for getting students/performers into shows. You will need to show your ID at the door as your ticket in to the show. Be sure to check-in with the Box Office when you arrive to see if the show you are hoping to see is at 50% capacity so that you can turn in your ID and not be surprised! Getting to the Theaters A reminder that the only way for all students, performers, and patrons to get to the theaters and green rooms is through the main hallway. There is a small hallway by the bar - but this is for waitstaff only. They're carrying lots of glass and balancing trays: this pass through needs to remain clear so they can successfully do their job. Promote Shows on the "Free Board" You know that big cork board where all the Trump'd drawings were displayed? That's the Free Board! Anyone can advertise their upcoming shows on that board. If you have any feedback you want to pass along to the Deep Ellum Foundation about the Reimagine Crowdus initiative, you can let Amanda or Maggie know. |
