Register for your next class and plan your DCF experience!Gee. I love today. Here's why:
REGISTRATION FOR CLASSES Today is the last day to register for classes starting next week, and the last day for early bird registration for classes starting at the end of March. Save some money, learn to be funny. Register here! The free improv class is also tonight. Tell your non-improv friends to come hang out. It's from 7-8 in the Training Center and they'll get in to the 8:00 show for free. DALLAS COMEDY FESTIVAL HEADLINERS ANNOUNCED Yesterday, we announced the 2017 Dallas Comedy Festival Headliners, and posted show times for all of festival shows and parties. We've got Jon Rudnitsky from last season's SNL doing stand-up on Thursday and Friday with his writing partner, Jake Nordwind (MTV/Funny or Die). Then, we've got The Improvised Shakespeare Company bringing their critically acclaimed improv show to our stage on Friday and Saturday night. Headliner shows typically sell-out. Be sure to get tickets (which go on sale March 1st at 11:59pm). A reminder: Because the festival is specialty programming, student and performer IDs do not get you in to shows. Individual tickets will go on sale on March 1st at 11:59pm. Until then, if you know you want to see a bunch of shows, the festival badges are currently on sale and will ultimately save you money (it works out to about 40% off if you were to attend most shows). Badges also guarantee you seats at all the headliner performances, early seating, and access to the VIP/Performer lounge before, during, or after shows. And a swag bag including a DCF tshirt. Learn more here. There will also be workshops from out-of-town performers and instructors on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning/afternoon. Those will be posted on March 1st. Capacity is limited. There is still time to be a festival volunteer, as well! Volunteers will be notified on March 1st if they have been accepted and what night/day they are scheduled. To learn more and fill out a volunteer form, click here. If you haven't experienced a DCF yet, get ready. It's the most fun out of the entire year. Take a look at the schedule, circle the shows you want to see, and get ready for JELL-O shots. Summer Camp. DCF. See you around.Sure. It's February. But, before you know it, it'll be summer. And what's the best part about summer? Summer camps for kids.
We started offering a kids' improv class last summer and it was the most magical thing in the entire world. This summer, we are offering three sessions. If you have kids in your life, or friends with kids, or work with kids, or are a kid, help us spread the word! Spots are limited for each age group (K-12). As one camper said during camp, "I'm sad today is Wednesday because that means the week is over and I don't ever want camp to end." Good thing I'm never sad it's Wednesday, because I love What's Up Wednesday so much. Anyways. Know what else is magical? The Dallas Comedy Festival! We're still looking for some more volunteers. Click here to learn more and apply! Other things: Remember to register for you next round of classes. Go see shows. Come enjoy happy hour drinks and half-off food tonight with your student/performer ID. Happy day-after-Valentine's. You get into any show for free (so long as it's not sold-out), and can come eat lots of tasty treats at the Tuesday night Kick-off party sponsored by Tortaco. Speaking of Tortaco...they're not just sponsoring the opening party, they're also giving all DCH students and performers a special treat. Head to their downtown Dallas location (2100 Ross Ave) for dinner (after 5pm) and get free roasted crab dip with the purchase of an entree. Their food is delicious and affordable. Plus, parking downtown is free after 6. Just show your DCH ID to get that dip. CONTEST4IMPROV4HUMANS This Sunday is the Contest4Improv4Humans at DCH! Improv Level 1 Jam is Tuesday 2/7! If you're currently enrolled in Improv Level 1, we want YOU to come to the improv jam on Tuesday night! Meet fellow level one students, graduates, performers, and more! It's a super fun and easy way to get some stage time, and get to know people. Doors open at 7. We start jamming at 8. DCH Diversity Scholarship is a thing! We're starting our first formal scholarship initiative and all are welcome to apply! We will review scholarship applications in March and they will be awarded for classes starting as early as April through the rest of the 2017. The number of scholarships awarded will depend on the amount in the scholarship fund and strength of applicants and references. You can read more about it here. The 2017 Dallas Comedy Festival (DCF) is around the corner! VIP passes, weekend passes, and weekday passes will go on sale Monday. DCF is the most magical time of the year - so many acts from across the country, all meeting here in Dallas to put up some of the funniest shows you'll see all year. Because this is a separate event from regular programming, student and performer IDs are not valid for free admittance to DCF shows and classes will be off during the week of DCF (March 21-26). If you've never been to DCF before, get excited. There. Will. Be. JELL-O. Shots. Visit dallascomedyfestival.com to learn more. |
