NO MORE OSCAR PARTY, Registration for Term 2/2A, and MORE!Welp. My plans to organize an Oscar party for Sunday have failed (this is Maggie, btw). I'm sorry if I ruined all of your dreams. I couldn't find a way to stream it, and, with some other personal things... it's not going to happen. I'm the worst. Please take a few minutes to read some things that ARE happening and feel free to throw me evil glares when you see me at DCH this weekend. I can take it.*
1) Dallas Comedy Festival IS HAPPENING. If you haven't had a chance, check out www.dallascomedyfestival.com to read more about our headliners (they're so great!) and workshops (omg so many workshops!). Spaces are filling up for the workshops quickly. Over 1/3 of the spots have been filled and they've only been up for a day! Also, if you know you're going to be at #DCF2016 for multiple nights and multiple shows, consider buying an All-Access pass. Those are also limited and stop being sold on March 6 (or when they sell out - which ever comes first!) IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR! 2) Sketch Show Auditions ARE HAPPENING. Writing packets are due Sunday at 11:59 pm. You can read more on the Performing > Auditions tab. Ask Amanda if you have any questions! THIS IS SUCH A GREAT OPPORTUNITY! 3) Registration for Classes IS HAPPENING. Tonight is the last night to register for classes starting in March. March 9 is the last day of Early Bird registration for classes starting in April. *I will probably forget that I said to throw me evil glares and then get really sensitive about it, and ask what's wrong and then not be able to drop it because I'll become preoccupied with the fact that you don't want to be my friend.

We've Come a Long WayThis weekend, showcase weekend, highlights how much our students have learned and grown over the last seven weeks. It's crazy how much a group of people can come together in such a short period of time! Another big event happening this weekend, the opening of Power to the Peephole, is also a testament to how far DCH itself has come in the last seven years.
Showcases: This week, we have our first showcases 2016. Over 300 students will be hitting the stage to show their friends and family all the funny things they've learned. Come check out some of the other classes and show your support! #GotYourBack. Power to the Peephole: This weekend is the premier of DCH's first auditioned and paid sketch revue. For a theater that started just seven years ago with only four improv show slots to now having a paid cast performing a sketch revue, this is one of those historic milestones for DCH. Student and performer IDs will get you in to see the show if it isn't sold out on a first-come, first-sat basis. To guarantee a seat, you can purchase tickets online. So, whether you're here to perform, here to observe, or here to cheer on others, we can't wait to celebrate how far we've all come this week! Summer Girls' Dance Party & Sketch ThingsThis Saturday, the troupe Summer Girls is hosting a Summer Lovin' Winter Ball immediately following their 11:00 show.
There will be music. There will be laughter. There will be summer punch, Hawaiian shirts, and leis! (see all the details here) Come for the show and stay for the dancing. It'll be just like your favorite high school rom com. Speaking of movies... If you're interested in Sketch For Screen class, the submission packet is due on Sunday, February 14th at 11:59 pm to [email protected]. You must have completed sketch level 2. The new program is part of a three-part course offering that ends with the writing of a comedy pilot and filming a sizzle reel. You can learn more about the course on the classes tab! Speaking of sketch packets... the packet submission deadline for the next sketch revue have been extended to February 28th at 11:59 pm. More info is under the Performing > Auditions tab! Oscar Watch PartySomeday, the Oscars will be beating down our door on 3025 Main Street looking for some custom entertainment to open the show.
Until that day, we can still get together to crack jokes, drink drinks, and watch the show with some of the funniest people in town. On Sunday, February 28th, join fellow DCH students, performers, and instructors for an official Oscar watch party. Doors open at 5 for filling out ballots and ordering beverages. There will be lights snacks (read: Popcorn & Chex Mix) provided for nomming as we watch the nominees. You are also welcome to bring your own snacks for sharing (Here's looking at you and your Buffalo Chicken Dip, Jua Holt). There will be prizes. There will be laughs. There will be Oscars. Save the date and see ya there! |
