Audition Schedule
Ewing Auditions
Ewing teams are DCH House Improv teams made up of current students and graduates. We hold auditions for DCH Ewing teams every two months. In order to audition for a Ewing team, you must have completed, or be currently enrolled in, Level 4 Improv at DCH.
The next round of Ewing Auditions is Saturday, March 7th at noon.
Please print and complete an audition form. You'll need to bring a completed form to the audition. We cannot consider your audition without a completed audition form. Note: this form will not have editing access. You can print it or you can save a copy to edit it.
The upcoming Ewing Teams will have the following schedule:
- REHEARSALS: Saturdays, 11am - 1pm and Sundays, 4-6pm
- SHOWS: Wednesdays at 9:30pm in April & May
Teams are responsible for paying their coaching fee, which is $5 per person each week, regardless if everyone in the troupe can make practice.
Just For Laughs Character Showcase Audition
The producers of Just For Laughs Montreal are returning for the 11th Annual Dallas Comedy Festival in March 2020. We will be putting up a Character Showcase during DCF in front of the producers and other people from the industry. To get a head start on preparing for this showcase, we held our most recent audition on January 18th at 11:00a. Those auditioning will need to bring seven minutes with at least three different originally written characters. When writing your sets, consider that the producers have seen thousands of comedians. Be original!
Walker Auditions

The next round of Walker Auditions will be in April 2020.
The upcoming Walker Teams will have the following schedule:

If you are interested in future Side Stage or Main Stage sketch revues, this audition is a great place to be seen.
Calamity Storytelling Audition
Calamity Storytelling is a storytelling show produced once a term and performed on Dallas Comedy House’s Main Stage in front of a live audience. Each performer will share a hilarious and entertaining story, which will be recorded for the Calamity Storytelling Podcast. No previous storytelling experience required in order to audition, however, taking the Storytelling class at Dallas Comedy House will give you an inherent boost, as you'll better understand expectations and story structure.
Selected performers will be assigned a coach who will work with them to be show ready.
The next round of storytelling auditions will be Sunday, April 5th from Noon – 1:00p in the P. Dogs Theater.
For your audition: You have 5 minutes to tell us your true story that you’d like to develop for the stage. Best practices to pitch a story showing the arc and how you’ve changed over the course of your story. No cliffhangers, please.
We will be casting multiple shows based on the auditions and will ask for your availability at the audition.
After the live show, our podcast host will schedule an interview with you to be recorded for the podcast. Each performer will have their own episode featuring their live recorded story and studio recorded interview.
Tips for Auditions
These hold true for improv troupes, sketch shows, commercials, and various other entertainment projects.
These hold true for improv troupes, sketch shows, commercials, and various other entertainment projects.
- Look good. Come dressed to impress. You don't have to wear a suit or dress, but don't wear a tank top and flip flops. If you want the audition panel to take you seriously, it's always best to look the part.
- Be early. Don't be on time, don't be late, but BE EARLY. It's always a good idea to arrive 15 minutes prior to your audition. DFW is a busy place. There's always traffic. Allow for traffic. Don't blame traffic if you're late.
- Know what you're auditioning for! If there are sides available for the role, make sure you learn them. Be prepared! If it's an improvised audition, it's always good to know what they're looking for.
- Get in, get out. Audition panels and casting directors often see hundreds of people a day. Even if you know the casting director, or someone on the panel, don't hang around for small talk before or after. Perform your audition, thank them for their time, and leave the room.
- Relax and have fun! If you're stressed or nervous, it can alter your performance during your audition. Make sure you are well rested, showered, and groomed, and eat a small snack prior to the audition. It's not fun to audition on a full belly, but if you're starving, it's the only thing you'll be concentrating on during the audition. Then everyone in the room will start to look like a pizza!
- Keep auditioning. The entertainment business in general is a tough business. If you don't land a role or get placed on a team after your first few auditions, don't give up! The more you audition, the more you will become comfortable with the process, and more importantly, comfortable with yourself in an audition. Some people feel very comfortable performing onstage, but when they walk into a room with an audition panel or a few casting directors, they freeze. Don't give up. Keep going!
- Be kind. Be gracious. Be humble. If you do great work and you remember these tips, you'll have a greater chance of landing the role!
