Maggie Rieth Austin here. Greetings from Western New York where it's rainy and 75 degrees and it just might be heaven! This is a photo of the park next to my dad's house. It's real pretty. Anyways, if you've emailed me and I've been slow to respond, I apologize for the delay. I'll be back in town next Wednesday, and will have better access to computers and such. In the meantime... HERE'S WHAT'S UP!
Today is the last Wednesday of the month! That means there is a tuition sale on all classes until midnight and the theater is open for free shows (and a free improv class from 7-8). It's a great night to bring some friends and have a mid-week pick-me-up. Plus, as a StuPer, you get half off food and happy hour drink prices all night long if you show your Student/Performer ID at the bar! Even more incentive? Tonight is STAN's last show at 8 before they ride off into the improv sunset. Ewing auditions are this Saturday at noon in the theater! Coaches for this round of Ewings are Colten Winburn and Christie Wallace. If you are currently enrolled in Improv Level 4+ or a graduate of the program, you are welcome to attend. Rehearsals will be either Saturday 10-12 or Thursday 7-9. Shows will be every Thursday at 9:30 September-October! #DCHspecial As the month comes to a close, be sure to use the hashtag DCHspecial on any insta/twitter/facebook promotions for a chance to name a drink special after your show! Submit your photos As we close out our first decade in business, we are beginning a photo collection for some 10 year celebrations. Please submit your favorite DCH memories using this form to be included in a photo book and displays using this form.

Last Day to Register for Classes
If you're planning on taking/continuing with classes starting next week, tonight is the deadline to register! We are moving away from rolling registration up until the start date of classes to help us better plan for classes. Thank you for registering in advance! Camp Part 2 This week is our July Improv Camp for Kids! You may notice posters and furniture in different spots in the Training Center. Please leave them as they are for our campers. Everything will be back to normal next week! Ewing Audition on July 28 If you're enrolled in Improv Level 4+ or a graduate of our improv program, you are cordially invited to audition for the next round of Ewing teams. Ewing teams get eight shows, Thursday nights at 9:30. It's the most shows of any improv team on the calendar, and a great way to get stage time while continuing to hone your craft. Auditions will be on July 28th at noon in the theater. Work on your writing!
DCH director and performer Jonda Robinson is teaching a sketch workshop for those interested in getting feedback on their writing on Saturday, July 21 | 2:30-5:30 . This workshop will give you helpful tools to help you polish your first drafts and take them to the next level. It will also provide you with practice in how to take notes from others, and how to gracefully give others notes on their work. Come in with a rough first draft you'd like to punch up and an open mind to see where it goes! No experience necessary. Celebrate fellow performers! We're starting a new celebration at DCH! Give another performer at the theater kudos for going above and beyond. Each month, the staff will look at the nominations and select one person who will receive the title of performer of the month AND a poster in the lobby advertising their upcoming shows. Click here for the nomination form! Collecting Photos/Scanned Artifacts for DCH 10 Year! In January 2019, DCH will celebrate a decade of comedy (WHAT!!) We are beginning the process of collecting photos and scanned artifacts for our decade celebration. We are attempting to create a coffee table book full of memories from the past ten years, as well as some other visual projects. So, dig through those old Facebook albums, find that digital camera SD card, comb through your scrapbooks, and help us celebrate! Please submit photos/scanned artifacts from your favorite DCH moment(s) using this form. Save the date: Ewing Auditions! If you are currently enrolled or have completed Improv Level 4+ to audition for the Ewing, we hope to see you at the next Ewing audition on Saturday, July 28th at 12PM in the theater! For more information about the Ewing/audition process, check out the audition page. Happy 4th of July!

Upcoming Special Shows: There's an extra special show for everyone in the month of June!
Be Safe: As in any city neighborhood, be aware of your surroundings and, ideally, walk in pairs at night if you parked far away from the theater. Don't be shy about asking for a walk to your car, even if you don't know too many people at DCH yet, there is always someone who will walk you to your car. I took this photo of my daughter "editing" What's Up Wednesday this morning because I thought it would be cute. Then she deleted everything and closed out the tab so I had to rewrite the whole dang post. Blessed be the fruit.
Marketing Your Shows In the two years since we put up the “Free Boards” at the theater, we’ve seen a sharp increase in both the quality and quantity of posters. We love how excited our performers are to market their shows! To streamline and tidy up the process of rack cards and posters inside DCH, we have a new system in place! If you have a poster or rack card that you want to put up at DCH, simply give it to the Box Office Intern and David will find a home for it soon thereafter. We also encourage you to share your beautiful posters and rack cards with the world! Put them up at your favorite coffee shops and bars! We want people who aren't already here for shows to see the work you've put in and come check you out. As a reminder, we do ask that all posters and rack cards include the following on the bottom:
Name a Bar Special Speaking of marketing your shows... want a bar special named after your group for the month of June?! Hashtag your show promos with #DCHSpecial and you are automatically entered for a chance to name a bar special! From a 7-week long advanced improv intensive to a 3-hour sketch writing drop-in... even workshops for educators and business! Check out the full list and register for something that suits your fancy. The Improv Student Lotto is Changing!
Starting in June, the Student Lotto hosts - Eric and Kelsey - will be randomly drawing student names from each level of improv to play in the Student Lotto show for the month. It's like the Hunger Games but with comedy and no one dies and everyone feels supported! Be on the lookout to see if you're the lucky lotto winner. Term 3 Office Hours are Posted!
